In September 2006, Taiyo Nippon Sanso Corporation acquired the majority of the
helium assets that Linde AG was required to divest by the U.S. Federal Trade
Commission and the European Commission as a condition for regulatory approval
of Linde AG's acquisition of The BOC Group, plc. The acquired helium business
is being managed by MATHESON under the name MATHESON Global Helium.
MATHESON is one of only six industrial gas companies in the world who have
direct access to sources of helium. The company currently has access to supply
from three of the world's fifteen helium sources and operates a global network
of seventeen helium transfills. MATHESON' parent, Taiyo Nippon Sanso
Corporation, is the leading helium supplier in Japan.
MATHESON is currently building a new helium plant and will gain access to
additional supply during the fourth quarter of 2011, when the Riley Ridge
helium source, located in Big Piney, WY, is expected to commence production.
The Big Piney Plant will be owned and operated by APMTG Helium LLC, a joint
venture between MATHESON and Air Products and Chemicals.
MATHESON is capable of supplying bulk liquid helium ISO containers to customers
located anywhere in the world. MATHESON also has helium available from our
growing network of six U.S. transfills including facilities located in Houston,
TX, Los Angeles, CA, San Francisco, CA, Orlando, FL, Lincoln, NE and Pittsburg,
PA. Through a network of transfills and fill plants, MATHESON supplies helium
in tube trailers, liquid dewars and high pressure cylinders to customers
located within the company's continental U.S. footprint.
